Welcome!
My name is Cláudia Ramos Monteiro, and I write A pé ou de carro (literally, On foot or by car), which takes its name from the conviction that everything small leads to big questions, regardless of speed.
I write mostly about theology, the field grounded in ultimate questions that structure our discernment: we have wandered that field for millennia, and our public life is enriched whenever we return to it.
My imagination was shaped by a mixture of Portuguese and North American culture, and a mixture of secularism, Catholicism and Protestantism. It’s been a bit of a joyous mess, one I am now trying to untangle.
The mess continues in language: some of the texts you find here are in English, some in European Portuguese—which is fine if you speak both languages and confusing if you don’t. My apologies, and thank you for bearing with me.
